Terms & conditions
How we work and what to expect when you book with and visit us. Written plainly, so we both know where we stand.
These terms explain how we work and what you can expect when you book with and visit Hair Obsession ("we", "us", "our"). By booking an appointment or using our services, you agree to these terms. Please do read them, and ask us if anything is unclear.
Booking an appointment
You can book with us by WhatsApp, phone or email, or by popping into the salon. We will confirm the date, time and service with you. Please give us as much detail as you can about what you would like, so we can set aside the right amount of time with the right stylist.
Deposits
For longer or higher-value services, such as colour, extensions or wedding hair, we may ask for a deposit to secure your appointment. Where a deposit is taken, it comes off the cost of your service on the day. If you cancel within our notice period below, or do not attend, the deposit may be kept to cover the time we set aside for you.
Cancellations, changes and missed appointments
We understand that plans change. If you need to cancel or rearrange, please let us know at least 24 hours before your appointment, so we can offer the time to someone else.
- Cancelling or rearranging with less than 24 hours' notice, or not turning up, means we have lost that time and may not be able to fill it.
- If this happens repeatedly, we may ask for a deposit before booking you in again, or decline future bookings.
We will always try to be fair and reasonable, and we appreciate the same in return.
Running late
If you are running late, please call us as soon as you can. We will do our best to still see you, but if there is not enough time left to carry out your service properly, we may need to shorten it, rearrange it, or treat it as a missed appointment. This is so we can be fair to clients booked in after you.
Patch tests, allergies and your health
Your safety comes first. For colour services and certain other treatments, a skin patch test is required, usually at least 48 hours beforehand, and again if it has been a while since your last visit or your health has changed.
- It is your responsibility to attend any patch test we ask for, and to tell us about any allergies, sensitivities, skin conditions, medication, pregnancy or health changes that could affect your treatment.
- If you decline a patch test, or do not give us accurate information, we may not be able to carry out your service, and we cannot accept responsibility for a reaction that results.
Please always let us know if you have reacted to a hair or beauty product before.
Consultations, results and colour
Every head of hair is different. We will talk through what you would like and give you our honest, professional advice on what is realistic for your hair, especially where it has been coloured, lightened or chemically treated before.
- We cannot guarantee an exact colour or result, as this depends on your hair's history and condition.
- Some looks, particularly going lighter, may take more than one session to achieve safely. Any further sessions are charged separately.
- If your hair's condition means a service is not safe or advisable, we will tell you and suggest an alternative.
Prices and payment
The prices on our website and price list are a guide. Because services vary with hair length, thickness, condition and the time involved, we will confirm the price with you at your consultation before we begin.
- Payment is due in full at the end of your appointment.
- We accept cash and all major debit and credit cards.
- Prices may change from time to time, and the price that applies is the one confirmed with you on the day.
Children
We welcome children for their own appointments, which must be booked and supervised by a parent or guardian who stays responsible for them in the salon. For everyone's safety, we ask that children who are not being treated are supervised at all times.
Putting things right
We want you to be happy with your hair. If something is not right, please tell us within 7 days of your appointment so we can take a proper look. Where the issue is down to our work, we will put it right, usually by booking you back in with us.
This does not affect your legal rights as a consumer. As hair services can usually be corrected, we do not generally offer refunds, but we will always deal with genuine concerns fairly and in line with the law.
Our liability
We carry out our services with reasonable care and skill. To the extent allowed by law:
- We are not responsible for reactions or results where a patch test was declined, or where information about your health, allergies or hair history was not shared with us.
- We are not responsible for problems caused by not following the aftercare advice we give you.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded under law, and nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.
Refusing or ending a service
We may decline or stop a service where we reasonably believe it is unsafe or unsuitable, where required information has not been given, or where a client is abusive or threatening towards our team. We treat our clients with respect, and ask for the same in return.
Your belongings
Please keep your belongings with you. We cannot accept responsibility for loss of, or damage to, personal items brought into the salon.
Gift vouchers
Any gift vouchers we sell are valid for the period shown on the voucher, can be used against our services, and cannot be exchanged for cash. Please bring your voucher with you to redeem it.
Photography
We love to show off our work. With your permission, we may photograph your hair to use on our website and social media. Just let us know if you would prefer we did not, and that is absolutely fine.
Our website
We take care to keep the information on our website accurate and up to date, but it is provided for general guidance and may change. The content, design and images on the site belong to us and may not be copied or reused without our permission.
Your privacy
How we collect and look after your personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated shown at the top. The terms that apply are those in place at the time of your appointment.
